Our Mission

At 100% Skate Club, we're dedicated to creating a welcoming, safe community for women, girls, and non-binary individuals in Calgary's Moh’kinsstis (Treaty 7) skateboarding scene. Our mission is to empower and grow our vibrant community through the love of skating. Our passion is to build an inclusive, supportive space, fostering diversity, positivity, and courage. Founded in 2015 our grassroots initiative has grown into a volunteer-driven non-profit society.

Mothers Day OG skate! Showing up is the first mile

Mothers Day OG skate! Showing up is the first milestone and we're stoked on this set of ladies, some of whom forfeited their mothers day sleep-in and pampering to come skate!

The goals have been set and verbally sent out into the world, so let's see if those manifest!

MEET YOUR BOARD MEMBERS: Tammy (she/her) @tammyjch

MEET YOUR BOARD MEMBERS: Tammy (she/her) @tammyjchow

Tammy is stepping up to fill the role of Vice President (previously Marlene @imagemaven) and has been volunteering with the club the last two years. She is the mother to Zoe and Abbie @tenaciouszozee in the groms group.

What does skateboarding mean to you? The supportive and encouraging community is the absolute best. Skateboarding is a test of your resilience too sometimes, but it's such an incredible challenge, and the endorphins you get are bar none to feel and see your progression. I've met so many people across all walks of life and are friends with people who are both decades older and younger than me because of skateboarding.

Funny story: I bought my very first complete as a teenager from Mission skate shop on 17th ave in Calgary, immediately after it was gripped and paid for, I took my first ever step on a skateboard while still in the shop basement and promptly fell on my butt. It was mortifyingly embarrassing and I didn't touch a skateboard again until 20 years later when my kids found it during the lock downs of covid, and I finally learned to skate at 37.

Best tip: progression looks different on everybody.

Tammy skates with the OG's but is at many of the sessions filming and offering a helping hand.

MEET YOUR BOARD MEMBERS: Jasmine (she/her)

Jasmine was first inspired to start skating after seeing an article about 100% Skate Club in Avenue magazine. Her plans were interrupted slightly by having two kids, but she's living her best skate life now!

Best thing you like about skating: I don't think about work (because I'm trying not to get hurt!)

Jasmine says if you are thinking about skating, DO IT! Our OG group is the fastest growing group within 100%, lots of like-minded individuals wanting to finally start skating! Come join Jasmine for good vibes and find your community. (Link in bio)

MEET THE BOARD MEMBERS while Erica (she/her) @catc

MEET THE BOARD MEMBERS while Erica (she/her) @catchsome_erica doesn't need an introduction as the founder and president of 100% Skate Club, it is her BIRTHDAY today, and we're going to highlight some of her achievements.

Erica is the force that brings all of our board members and mentors together. She saw the need to create space for girls, women, and underrepresented skaters in Calgary and started the club in 2015. It has grown from the 8 skaters in the very first session to what it is now. 100% Skate Club is her legacy!

In 2019, Erica received Arc’teryx’s Problem Solvers Award for fostering female skaters' space. And has subsequently become an @arcteryx.alberta ambassador, aligning with their socially conscious values. 🌟 We are grateful for Arc'teryx's continued support of our club!

For IWD in 2018, @hersheyscanada recognized Erica's contributions to transforming the skateboarding scene and even had a run of Hershey's chocolate bars with her face on them!

About creating space:
It’s amazing to skate with and build a community with amazing people over the years. Witnessing skateboarding become more inclusive in our city with more female identifying skaters, making the sport better for everyone, has been very rewarding for me! Excited to keep pushing boundaries!

Fun fact, I met Tony Hawk in LA, got starstruck and I couldn’t speak! After that my nephews bragged ‘my aunt knows Tony Hawk’! 😅
