Meet your mentor Oli!🛹❤️

They have been skating for a little while now but finally found the courage to come shred at the parks. We are so happy to have Oli’s bright energy and enthusiasm on our team!

100% is happy to provide a place where we can all feel safe, and included in the fun.🌈🛹😁

“When I first got my skateboard I was terrified of the skateparks. I avoided them like they were toxic because there was seemingly a divide of girls and boys.. as a nonbinary person I didn’t feel like I fit in anywhere. I finally built up the courage to go to a skatepark and I even met a few people, one of them recommended I go to a skate club for women and nonbinary people.I gave it a shot and it was the most fun I had ever had at a skatepark and decided to stay!”

Today we are Introducing a bowl shredding goddess, Peggy!

“ I started skateboarding in 2016 after much encouragement from my husband Brian, an avid, lifelong skateboarder. He introduced our daughter, Emilia, to 100% Skate Club that spring. With Emilia and our son, Makai, beginning to skateboard, I knew this train was leaving with or without me, so I got on board.

In the beginning, I felt nervous, out of place and in everyone’s way, but soon I met a number of women within the 100% Skate Club community, including Erica and Marlene. They encouraged me to take my turn in the bowl and also to take up space at the skate parks.

I continue to be inspired by the women who make up 100% Skate Club and am hoping to extend the 100% community to include more NE youth.”

Peggy will be the lead mentor for our North East Initiative with sessions taking place at the Genesis Skatepark beginning in May👏🏼

Meet Eve !❤️🛹

Eve is another one of our newest mentors, she has been skating for about 2 years now and is shredding like nobodies business!

‘I started skateboarding because I wanted to find a space to be creative and be myself. It was love at first push, I became addicted to it. It made me curious, I could go anywhere I wanted and create a whole world out of a rigid, angular piece of concrete. Skateboarding was there for me when I really needed it. And that's why I joined 100%, I want to share that love with anyone who is stoked to skate. Also, I have always found there to be a lack of female representation in skateboarding, and 100% is passionate about creating space for everyone, and providing a club where girls can come together and just skate and have fun. Lasty, I really wanted to give back to the community here in Calgary. I’ve met some really passionate skaters who’ve motivated me to share the love and welcome anyone who wants to give it a go, we're all skaters regardless of skill level. It's the fun that counts.’
