Tammy Chow

Tammy is the President of our Board

In 2021 our family started spending more and more time at skateparks due to our girls really taking a keen interest in skateboarding. My husband and I decided that we needed to very quickly ‘jump on board’ too. From the get-go, I was blown away by the kindness of total strangers volunteering to help my kids out. The skate community has always felt very barrier free, in the way that age, gender, ethnicity etc don’t really matter at the skatepark.  It is a very welcoming and encouraging community – particularly in Calgary!

I have been a part of the Board since 2022. I personally love skating transition and pumptracks.  I am honored to fill the role as President going forward and promise to uphold the values of the 100% Skate Club.

Inspired by 100% co-founder Marlene and my daughter, Neva, both of whom made skating bowls look so fun, I picked up a skateboard for the first time at age 40 and convinced Tammy to join me for an adult beginners lesson at The Compound. Somehow we were dropping in by the end of that first session and immediately we were both hooked!

I was already involved with 100% Skate Club because of Neva’s interest in skateboarding, but joining myself in 2021 opened the door to a whole new level of community support and inspiration from other women my own age. Who knew there were so many other adult women interested in learning to skateboard?! I’d found my tribe!

Supporting girls and women in embracing their intrinsic power has always been a passion of mine: from childbirth support as women transition into motherhood, to guiding teens in overcoming challenges, to advising families as a maternal and childhood nutritionist. I’m excited to bring that same passion for connecting women with themselves and each other to the supportive and inclusive environment that is 100% Skate Club.

I joined the 100% Skate Club (and the OG group) in May 2025, right around the time my kids joined the Groms. A month later, I turned 47(!). My goal was simple: learn how to skateboard beyond slowly pushing and standing on my board so I could join my husband and daughters at the skateparks. I’ll never forget my first session at Bowness Skatepark on Mother’s Day—shaky legs, but so much joy just being there.

Summer arrived, and as an educator, I had time off to skate with my family and new skate friends. We explored local parks, road-tripped, and skateboarded all over BC and Alberta. By September, I had gained enough confidence to enter The Ambush, an amateur skateboard contest!

It’s hard to put into words just how much I’ve gained from skateboarding. What started with zero expectations has become an important part of my life. I’m excited to continue growing in this community and to give back to the 100% Skate Club as we work toward our shared goals and vision.

Skateboarding was always something I wanted to do, but for the longest time it seemed impossible to start. That all changed when the pandemic hit. Learning to skateboard has brought back a youthful kind of fun to my life and joining the club has amped the experience 100%. I’m thrilled to be a part of this supportive and inclusive community. Looking forward to helping out on the board and having a great season!

Just a girl here living life through anxiety and endless side quests. I've been skating for more years than the number of tricks I can do but love the feeling of carving a bowl even if I'm still too scared to drop in.

I've been skating for 5 years and love that skateboarding provides me with another avenue to hang out with rad people, goof around and have fun.

I want to help create a welcoming space that allows anyone to feel like they can be their true self without fear of being judged.

I fist pumped when I read about Erica and 100% in Avenue magazine. Other gals to skateboard with, sign me up. My plans were slightly interrupted with having two kids but I'm living my best skate life now.

Erica Jacobs

Erica is the Founder and Past President of 100% Skate Club

I started skateboarding at the age of 20 and quickly fell in love with the freedom of expression it gave me. Throughout my 20s, I competed in both local and national competitions. Traveling with my skateboard introduced me to incredible friends and unforgettable experiences.

In my 30s, I shifted my focus to community leadership and founded 100% Skate Club in 2015. My goal is to unite girls, women, and gender-expansive skaters in a welcoming, safe, and fun environment where we can share our passion for skateboarding and grow together as a community!

Erica has this incredible community and elected to retire at the end of 2025. She is leaving 100% Skate Club in the capable hands of the Board and mentors.

Crystal and her team at Full Blast Creative provide our website.

I joined 100% in the summer of 2017 after John Hiebert, a local Calgary skater, told me there was a club for girls and women. I now assist 100% with their digital marketing through their website. The truth is, I don’t think I would have taken my skateboarding to a skatepark, for fear that I wouldn’t fit in, if I hadn’t learned about 100%. I didn’t realize until that first night how wonderful it is to be a part of a community of girls and women, just like me, that love to skate. To echo others, skateboarding changed my life!
