Free festival hosted by 100% Skate Club is part of international “Go Skateboarding Day” 

(Calgary) June 17, 2019: 100% Skate Club is thrilled to announce their third annual all girls skateboard festival “What Flamingo 3” will take place June 21 and 22 as part of international Go Skateboarding Day. This free event will include a skate jam and all-ages skateboarding lessons for women and girls.

June 21 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. International “Go Skateboarding Day” Skate Jam

Matt Banister Memorial Skatepark, Hull Services, 2266 Woodpark Ave. S.W.

100% Skate Club has teamed up with Hull Services to host a skate jam at Matt Banister skatepark. This inclusive, community focused, fun-filled event includes a BBQ, select vendors, skate games, prizes, and provides a safe, encouraging environment to connect with new friends who skate. This event also includes a conversation led by experienced female skaters about the benefits of skateboarding such as increased self-confidence, physical activity and skill building, and sense of community. This free event is open to women and girl skateboarders of all ages and abilities. Parking by Administration building.

June 22 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Free Skateboarding Lessons

Huntington Hills Skatepark, Centre St N & 64 Ave N.W

100% Skate Club will offer free two-hour beginner and intermediate level skate lessons, with local skate coaches, focused on helping skater girls and women to improve and develop their skateboarding skills. 

  • 10 am - 12 pm: Beginner Clinic - Sponsored by Youth Brigade/The Park. 
  • 1 pm – 3 pm: Intermediate and Street Skate Clinic - Sponsored by Ninetimes

Created by the International Association of Skateboard Companies, Go Skateboarding Day is an annual event aimed at promoting skateboarding around the world. What Flamingo is an annual free, inclusive, all-ages skateboard festival focusing on promoting, supporting and celebrating skateboarding for women and girls in Calgary. It is launched each year with a Go Skateboarding Day event exclusively for women and girls. This year, What Flamingo 3 is endorsed by: Canada Skateboard, and supported by CASE, Hull Services, Push to Heal, Deluxe Distribution, Youth Brigade/The Park, Ninetimes, The Source, Somewon, New Line Skateparks, Rude Girls, Roxy, and Quicksilver.

100% Skate Club is a truly grassroots skateboarding community for women and girls of all ages. Our mission is to bring girls and women together in a welcoming, inclusive and safe community to have fun, break down stereotypes and share our passion for skateboarding. Events like What Flamingo aim to realize these goals and promote the physical activity, health and community connection benefits of skateboarding for women and girls in Calgary.
